This unusual Deco design vase came from Venice and is attributed to the Alessandro Mandruzzato; this would be a typical vase for him except the size; his are usually smaller. Rarely signed. He was a master of overshot in his faceted vases. One eBayer suggested this vase may be Chinese...but we haven't found one overshot vase like this from the Orient, though there are some with faceted sides which may have been inspired by Murano Glass. (see Dynasty pieces).
The ground glass applied to this big heavy beauty is golden. Gorgeous shade of sapphire blue of the thick body, unless turned to the faceted side, which is perfectly smooth and flat, giving the piece an Art Deco look, though we think it is 3 or 4 decades later. If lit from the inside one can see it isn't a solid crust on it but very deliberated scattered about so the blue shows though in the right light. A real stunner and quite beautiful as well as masterfully made. From the 1960s, one owner. No damage or issues!
Doesn't flare as much as the photos; we'll correct that soon.
Example below show his use of a similar overshot technique with faceted sides
