This first edition copy of the "Miyagawa Nyozan Collection " of sheet music, has been sitting on my shelf for at least 15 years. It is time for it to have a new home. It is in LIKE New condition.
- Many of the pieces you be familiar with such "Ajikan" or "HiFuMi". every score is written in Kinko notation
- Some of the pieces have notes written in red making it easy to read.
- All of the scores are copies of the original hand written scores.
- The edition is no longer being printed so it is rare.
Here is some information about Miyakawa Nyozan: He studiedshakuhachi at Kogetsu-in in Yanagawa, and later studied under Hasegawa Tōgaku and KatsuuraShōzan. Around 1930, he became a student of Higuchi Taizan.
Miyakawa became one of the most highly-regarded teachers in Tokyo from the late Meijiand Taisho periods.
He taught Myoan-style shakuhachi, first from his home in the Sugamo district and,later from the residence of the descendants of the famous Hosogawa family(former fuedal lords).
His students included many well-known figures in the shakuhachi world includingTani Kyochiku and Uramoto Setchō.
Miyogawa Nyozan is considered the founder of the modern Fuke-ha shakuhachischool.
