NEMA grades C, and CE Canvas Cotton-Cloth Reinforced Phenolic -- natural color is typically light tan to brown. C and CE grades are composed of a continuous cotton woven

cloth impregnated with a phenolic resin binder. These grades contain a medium weave canvas and are known primarily for their mechanical properties. These grades are not

recommended for primary electrical insulation.

NEMA C certs to Mil-I-13768/16 FBM, IEC 60893-3 Type 4, PF CC 201

NEMA CE certs to Mil-I-24768/14 FBG, IEC 60893-3 Type 4, PF CC 203

Linen Sheets have internal stresses built up inside of the sheet. When a sheet is cut, it relieves that stress. As a result, the piece that is cut, especially for thin sheets may come out slightly warped.

All shapes (i.e. rod and plate) have a balanced stress state with respect to the shape centerline. If during machining, Cutting more material is removed from one side of the centerline than the other, the material will “dish up” towards the side with more material removed. The amount of residual stress locked into the material determines how much the material will move once the outer material is removed.

The same condition exists in metals. However, the lower stiffness of plastics makes the magnitude of this more significant.
