This tool will make setting the height of lathe tools quick and easy. Simply wrap the rubber band around any round metal stock. The rubber band can seat into one of 3 notches, for the best tension. Then place the tip of the gauge on the lathe tool. Adjust the height of the tool until the bubble is in the center of the level. Depending on the amount of stick out on the tool or the work piece, some fine adjustment may needed to compensate for flex. It can even be used upside down for special operations on the lathe where tools are mounted upside down.
