Here is a rare & beautiful pair of Southern Pacific Lines Sugar Tongs in the Westfield pattern I believe. They measure around 4 1/2 and look great with great silver that shines through nicely. The tongs are marked on side S.P. Co.
This pair was used in actual SP dining Car service early teens-twenties era. They were part of a large sugar tong collection of hotel-railroad-restaurants- steamships of the era.
Will look great in your collection of historical railroads, hotel, steamship line silver collection.
Not To Be Missed.
The Southern Pacific (SP) was a major American railroad company that operated primarily in the western and southwestern United States. Founded in 1865, it grew to become one of the largest and most influential railroads in the region, playing a significant role in the development of California and the Southwest. Southern Pacific Dining Cars were renowned for providing high-quality dining experiences to passengers for nearly 54 years, from the late 1890s to the mid-1950s. The Southern Pacific aimed to provide a luxurious dining experience, with carefully prepared meals served with style. They were known for their fine dining service, elegant presentation, and comfortable atmosphere. Many of their dining cars were built by Pullman, and some were later repurposed for maintenance-of-way service.
