I've owned this bag for a couple of years & just had it displayed in a curio cabinet, I purchased it at a local antique shop where they also had a glass & wood box display case with the Dr's name, birth and death dates. I did not purchase the glass case but I did photograph the brass identification tag on the glass box to see if I could find any history on the Doctor. His name was Dr. Jesse Crocket Hurst b. 1848 d. 1926 (although the brass id plate had his year of birth as 1849). An online photo from what looks like a newspaper clipping stated he was the Doctor for Coal River, WV- he's buried in the Hurst Cemetery in Raleigh County, West Virginia. The doctor's bag itself does not have any identifying info.

Please view listing photos carefully. This bag is in found condition and it's in poor condition, with holes, missing leather, tears, there's dirt, soil marks, hair that I tried to clean out and around the bottles as best as I could without moving or breaking any of the hardware clasps that many of the bottles are snapped into. Many of the medicine bottles still had powder and contents that I disposed of but I did not wash out any of the bottles. There are some pieces of paper with handwriting identifying the medication in the slots of where the bottles go- some of the paper is torn but a few are still legible. There's a Max Wocher & Son dental tool- it's in rough shape-looks like a tooth extractor and that's the only instrument that was in the bag. A couple of bottles have paper labels or parts of paper labels.
The bag measures about 16" long and over 5.5" tall

Hope this makes a nice addition to any collection or display & thanks so much for taking a look!
