Hello. This is a dry and stable set of Mun “Moon” Ebony (Vietnamese Ebony) suitable for building an acoustic guitar.
One thin coat of shellac has been applied to give an idea of how spectacular this set will look under finish.
It was resawn about 18 months ago and has been air drying stickered in my climate controlled shop since then.
Backs - 20-1/8” x 8-5/8” x .175”
Sides - 33-5/8” x 4-5/8” x .175”
Diospyros Mun is a true ebony that makes a stellar tonewood for acoustic guitars. It has a great tap tone and is similar to Macassar ebony and Malaysian blackwood in hardness and density. Multiple builders that have bought sets from me in recent years tell me it is their favorite wood to build with.
