- TOLERANCE GUARANTEE
Vintage carbon composition resistors slowly drift upwards in value over time. As a result, the original markings do not accurately represent the current value of these NOS resistors.
I know it's crucial to have the right resistance, so I have a tolerance guarantee for these resistors. For each resistor value, there is a guaranteed resistance range.
For example, the 160 Ω option has a guaranteed range of 160-190 Ω. This means any 160 Ω resistors you buy will have a resistance between 160 and 190 Ω. I test these resistors with a high-end Keysight multimeter, and I will refund any resistors that do not meet the guaranteed range.
The average resistor will fall somewhere in the middle of this guaranteed range. So the resistor with 160 Ω markings should be treated like a 175 Ω resistor with ±15 Ω tolerance. Keep this in mind when purchasing!
- BRANDS
The majority of the resistors in this listing are Allen-Bradley. However, there are other brands, including: Stackpole, Ohmite, Airco Speer, and Mil-Resistor. These are high-quality vintage resistor brands and are functionally equivalent.
- CONDITION AND HISTORY
These resistors are surplus from a well-known East Coast electronics repair shop. They were kept indoors and are in good condition. The boxes were all intact and there were no signs of moisture, insects, etc. when I was un-packing them.
The painted color bands are vibrant and the resistors are in good cosmetic condition. There may be some light scuffs. Carbon composition resistors were hand-painted, so there will be slight variations in the exact appearance.
Because the resistors are ~60 years old, the leads do have some natural dirtiness/light corrosion. Some of the resistors were stored in original packaging, but others were loose in boxes, so there may be some bent leads, but they will all be approximately straight.
