I recently acquired this neck (without body) but no longer need it. I'm not sure what guitar it originally came from. The neck is made out of mahogany and was made in Japan. My guess is 1960s - 1970s. I lean toward earlier since it has a non-adjustable steel neck reinforcement.
The neck is made up of a 4-layer lamination, all mahogany, if you look close you can see the vertical joint seams going along the length of the neck. The headstock area doesn't have a scarf joint. The joints are all still very tight and can't be felt through the finish, clean workmanship. The neck heal is stacked, so there is another joint in this section, look closely at the pictures, again it is tight and well made. The headstock doesn't have an overlay on it, the black face you see is simply paint.
The headstock looks to have had 3-on-a-plate style tuners installed originally. The tuner hole spacing is non-standard, at least for what we typically see in North America. You may need to fill the holes in the headstock and add front and back overlays to adapt, but you can be the judge of that.
scale: 25-1/8"
nut width: 1-13/16"
12th fret width: a hair over 2-1/8"
