This is the Magento that most 1-1/2hp, 3hp, and 6hp John Deere E hit and miss engines use.  It makes excellent hot spark.  One of the mounting holes is missing a few threads but it would be very easy to fix with a helicoil.  Some threads are still at the top of the hole and a bolt screws in fine so it may work fine as it is.  Please take a look at the pictures and decide if you need it.  For questions 419 789 1159      

SPECIAL NOTE:  This is a low tension magneto, it is meant to work with an igniter and will not produce at spark that will jump an air gap.  It will not work with a spark plug.  The spark it produces can be observed by rubbing a wire from the terminal against the case of the mag while turning the shaft.  It does have to be timed to the engine.  If you don't want to accept these facts please don't purchase it.

  • The mounting holes are 2" apart on center, one hole is missing some threads.
  • 3/8" shaft for gear
  • It is missing the band that goes over the magnet but those are easy to get.
  • Only very minimal wear can be felt!
  • Turns over super smooth just as it should
  • Makes an excellent hot spark!
  • I recharged the magnet right before I made this listing
  • No cracks, breaks, or welds that I can see or know of.

Please make your decision to buy from the pictures.  I think I list items very accurately but my opinion on condition may differ from yours.   In my opinion this is a great magneto.  If you have any questions about how to use it on your engine please ask.  Don't be a clown and tear it all apart and then try to return it when you can't get it to work.

I am a well known collector and dealer of antique gas engines, parts for them, and related items.  I try to list all my items very accurately so the buyer knows exactly what they are buying. Out of respect I ask you to please actually read the descriptions and look at all the pictures before buying or asking questions.  I am glad to answer questions but I’m not always that good at emailing people back. If you can find a way to talk to me with your voice you will almost always get a quick response. If you message me please try not to sound like a caveman.  I have terrible grammar myself so I understand but sometimes it is very difficult to comprehend what some people write.


All of my items are listed “AS IS” and “NO RETURNS”.  If I make a mistake on my measurements or you feel something is not as described please let me know and I will try to make it right.  I think most all of my customers with a normal level of sanity are happy.

My shipping time is set for 5 business days, weekends and holidays don’t count.   I ship out most items quicker than that though. If you are worried about how soon I can ship an item please ask before you buy it.  I travel a lot and have a family so I am not always on call 24/7 when it comes shipping items. I think most people would agree that I do an extremely good job of packing items so I guess it's worth the wait.
