- Must have tool is used to support the M1 Garand Gas Cylinder when removing or tightening either the gas plug, gas lock or front sight screw.
- Prevents loosening of the gas cylinder and barrel splines by supporting the gas cylinder and taking all the twisting force off the gas cylinder and barrel splines when you tighten the screw.
- Use only to support the gas cylinder to prevent forces on the splines.
- This is not used to tighten the gas cylinder lock as the lock should only be hand tight to prevent pressure on the barrel threads as it heats up.
- Must have to maintain a match grade fit between the gas cylinder and barrel splines.

- Same design as used in the M1 Garand Shop Manual. To use: the wrench is placed on the gas cylinder, then the wrench is placed on the work bench top with the barrel end at the edge of the bench. Now the wrench will take all the force off the barrel splines and onto the workbench surface as you tighten or loosen the screw.
