Original M1 Canteen replacement cap. This is the early type, NSN 8465-00-930-2077, that was introduced in 1966 and used until the early 1980's. These have 1980 contract dates, but are identical to the 1960's ones so ideal for Vietnam reenacting or displays.

Fits the 1 Quart and 2 Quart USGI plastic canteens. Does not fit the metal canteens. Works with the drinking tube on the M17 and M40 series masks.
