Antique L. Coes 21" steel "Knife Handle" monkey wrench from late 1800s, steam
locomotive era. It is stamped AT & SF RY (Atchison, Topeka &
Santa Fe Rail Yard) on the wood handle. It is in good working condition with snug fitting
parts and good working adjuster wheel. Small crack in one side of wood handle (see photo). It is solid steel
construction. It is factory stamped "Coes Wrench Co. Worcester Mass. U.S.A." on one side,
and "MFD UNDER L.COES PATS STEEL" on the other side. The L.COES PATS is likely ref to the 1880 Pat for this wrench. From what I can find out, the
wrench dates sometime from late 1980's to 1890's or so. Wt. is 8 lbs 11 oz. Wrench opens 4" and closes at 2".
