Kubota Mower Gearbox and PTO Shaft Evaluation Service
This sale is for the evaluation and, after your authorization, repair of Kubota Gearboxes and PTO/Universal Joint shafts. I can repair and rebuild almost any Kubota mower gearbox. I use only Kubota OEM parts and offer you the option of re-using parts that do not need to be replaced. For instance, when gearboxes are damaged, rarely does every part have to be replaced. Same principle with PTO shafts; often, the U-joints or yokes can be replaced without needing to replace the entire assembly.
THE PROCESS
Purchase my evaluation for $25 via "Buy It Now" on eBay. You will receive my contact information and address and will ship the damaged unit to me. I will evaluate the unit and give you an estimate for repair. If you authorize moving forward with the repair, I'll begin immediately. After receiving payment I will ship the unit back to you. If you decide to not move forward with repair, you can choose to pay actual shipping cost to have the unit shipped back to you.
THE CHARGES
I charge a flat fee of $100 for PTO shafts and $150 for gearboxes, plus parts, for the repair service. I do not "upcharge" for parts; you will pay the exact amount I pay and I will include the invoice from my purchase of the parts.
It is impossible to provide an estimate without thoroughly inspecting the damaged unit, but most often gearboxes are damaged from running without adequate oil. The first thing to go is usually the lower bevel gear and replacing those gears costs $450-500. If input and output shafts are undamaged (they usually are OK), new bevel gears, bearings, and oil seals will cost around $600-625. Plus $150 for my work and shipping charges. Functional parts of the gearbox will be basically new at a cost far less than purchasing a new gearbox. Sometimes all that is needed is new bearings or oil seals and parts cost $100 or less. Though unusual, it does happen.
An example: I recently rebuilt an RCK60-22BX gearbox. Parts cost for all new gears, bearings, and seals was $605.45. Plus my fee of $150.00 and shipping of $25.00 = total cost of $780.45.
THE TIMELINE
When you purchase an evaluation on eBay, you will immediately receive my contact information. You will ship the item to me. I will contact you when I receive the item and will complete the evaluation as quickly as possible, usually within 24 hours. If you authorize moving forward with repair, it typically takes 5 business days to receive parts from Kubota. I will complete the repair or rebuild within 2 days of receiving parts. So, I typically will have the unit back in the mail to you in about one week after I receive it.
FAQs
Q. Will you refund my evaluation fee if I uthorize the repair?
A. Yes, your $25 evaluation fee will be deducted from my charge of $100/150 for repair. If you choose not to move forward with the repair, or repair is not possible, there is no refund of the $25 ealuation fee.
Q. Can you evaluate my gearbox or shaft by video or pictures?
A. No. I have to have the unit in-hand to evaluate it.
Q. There are aftermarket parts at a cheaper cost, will you use them?
A. No. I have tried aftermarket parts and they are cheaper for a reason. The relatively small cost savings isn't worth it.
Q. I have some used parts that fit the gearbox, will you use them?
A. You're welcome to include them with the damaged unit. If they're in good shape I'll use them to save money.
Q. I ordered parts already and realize I don't have the ability to complete the repair, will you use the parts I already purchased?
A. Yes. Same as with used parts, I'm happy to use parts you already purchased and complete the repair.
Q. I live outside the United States, will you repair my gearbox or universal shaft?
A. As long as the buyer provides a return shipping label I will repair parts from any location.
Q. Do you sell used parts to use in my repair?
A. If I have good used parts that will work for your repair I will ask if you want to use them. I will never substitute used parts without your knowledge and approval.
Q. Do you really make only $100 or $150? Are there hidden fees?
A. There are absolutely no hidden fees and no "upselling." You will pay my actual cost for parts and shipping, and I will charge $100 or $150 for my repair services.
Q. Do you repair non-Kubota equipment, such as John Deere?
A. No. I only work on Kubota equipment.
Q. If I choose not to have you complete the repair, do I get my parts back? Is there an additional cost?
A. Yes. I will return your parts and the only additional cost is actual shipping charge.
