RARE Vintage Cast Iron COSMO Ticket Stamper 686 Model 4 Train Still Presses GR13

upper

junction city KS

has some special features where their presence or absence will influence collectors' interest. This model is made in a way, that small 'Edmondson' card tickets (30,5 x 57 mm) can be stamped on the back (with date, RR name and town name) and be 'decapitated' at the same time. A small upper part of the ticket, with miniature repeat of destination, type and fare, will be cut off by the built-in knife, and drop into the drawer. At the end of the day, this pre-computer bookkeeping system results in glued-on ticket heads, the received fares being counted on an adding machine. this cutting-off still works properly And more important, the station die, for the text surrounding the date, IS still there (hidden under the ink ribbon). see pics. These dies are important, as those from some railroads are quite rare.

the machine was tested, with some pieces of thin card, cut to size,?

This item does have rust and missing paint. I don't know an age, but I know it has some years on it. Heavy duty cast iron. The stamper part still moves up and down. It could be polished up a bit but still looks nice with the patina.
