This is a collection of 5 original letters sent from the FBI to several Alabamians. They appear to be signed with a J. Edgar Hoover auto-pen. There are two letters with printed speeches attached that were addressed to T.A. Riley, Chief of Police in Birmingham, Alabama in 1939.

The documents from 1939 are (1) Law Enforcement in Crisis- an address delivered by Hoover at the Annual New York Herald-Tribune Forum. (2) Another is Fifty Years of Crime in America, an address to a business club in Nashville, TN. (3) Problems of Law Enforcement- an address to the International Assoc. of Chiefs of Police in San Francisco. (4) Men of Tomorrow- an address to the Boy Scout Day Celebration at the 1939 New York World's Fair.

One larger document is from 1964 and was addressed to a preacher in North Alabama. Included are several speeches Hoover gave. One is titled Our Heritage of Greatness. Several other included speeches talk about the problems of the 1960's and specifically problems for young people.
