This is a magnificent portrait of an Iroquois Chief from celebrated Cherokee indigenous artist, Joe Waano-Gano. His given name was Joseph Noonan, he studied at USC and UCLA and was noted for his plein air impressionistic landscapes as well as portraits of notable indigenous figures. Please study the pictures for damage close-ups. I am baffled at this...no attempt was made to disguise it, the paint match is quite good but the application seems crude. The face is absolutely stunning with no apparent damage. The frame is burlwood and the mat is linen. The frame is quite lightweight, the piece weighs 3 lbs. 10 oz. This is ONE OF A KIND (OOAK)!
