This listing is for an authentic vintage sample of antique corn planter check row wire.   This wire features a Garitt J. Hyer patent, dated November 23, 1880. This trip is called "Hyer's Cast Iron Large C-Link with Point to Blunt Ends Splicer"  by collectors.  (ref. Goedert & Greer #234.).    This trip or knot is made of cast iron with opening on one side.   These were bought by the small box and used to make repairs or splices in the wire.  These had a special plier type tool to open and close the links.   The link was used to maintain interval in the planting.   Sample is at least 18" in length. Trip is well centered in sample.   Wire is in good used condition.
