About the Note:

🔹 These banknotes were in circulation for only a few weeks in the summer of 1946 and are now extremely difficult to find in such high-grade condition.

The Story Behind This Banknote:

The denomination of this note can be confusing. It is labeled 100,000,000 B-Pengő, meaning 100 million × 1 billion pengő = 100 Quintillion Pengő.

Since the Hungarian population at the time struggled to grasp such astronomical numbers, the notation was simplified by placing just the letter "B" before pengő to indicate billion.

Amidst Hungary’s worst hyperinflation in history, new banknotes were issued at an overwhelming pace. People often identified them by color rather than denomination—referring to them as “the red,” “the pink,” “the purple,” etc.
