This is a replacement arm bolt for the Herman Miller Aeron Chair for height adjustable arms that have broken off or are wobbly and about to break off. It is a common failure as the head of the original bolt usually snaps off causing the arm assembly to disconnect completely from the chair frame.
This replacement arm bolt only works for Aeron chairs that have the thumb wheel style height adjustment mechanism. This replacement arm bolt will not work for the fixed Aeron arms or the height adjustable Aeron arms that use a lever.
Bolts retain 100% function of the Aeron armrest movement lock and tightening mechanism, they fit and work perfectly
You will receive 2 x 18-8 stainless steel socket head bolts, which takes a 3/16" allen key & 2 x stainless steel washers.
Installation is simple. Use a T30 torx key to remove the 4 torx bolts holding the back assembly of the chair. Remove the broken now-headless bolt with a pair of pliers and replace with the new bolt. If you would like to replace the original bolt on the other side, providing that it has a bolt head that did not snap-off, you will need a T27 torx key to remove. When reassembling, do not over-tighten.
Please note the new bolts have less threading than the original, however it still fits perfectly and the scroll wheel lock functions flawlessly. The original was made with more threading than necessary. Please see the pictures of it installed, the bolt goes all the way in and the scroll wheel works well.
