A Perfect example of one such shortcut is to use a stamped metal turbo heat shield. In the case of a Rzr or Maverick this short cut can have devastating effects on performance and reliability.
We all know that metal touching hot metal just makes even more hot metal So is the case with an all metal turbo heat shield The hot side is in direct contact with the “cold side” metal and there is no thermal break. In addition to the inefficient turbo shield design side by sides face some aerodynamic challenges in the rear of the vehicle. The air space behind the firewall before the engine has an eddying effect when at speed like that of a truck bed. The air does not flow out and around the engine, instead it just circulates the hot air. This only compounds the inefficiency of the factory turbo shield.
