DETAILS: Original  pinback button issued by the Boston chapter of the Gay Activist Alliance. Circa 1970. Creative twist to Tom Doerr's lower case lamda design. We believe it may actually be by Doerr himself. Measures 1 1/2" inches. Rare.

BACKGROUND: The Gay Activists Alliance (GAA) was founded in New York City in 1969, shortly after the Stonewall Rebellion, by dissident members of the Gay Liberation Front (GLF). In contrast to the Liberation Front, the Activists Alliance focused their actions specifically to further gay and lesbian rights. They declared themselfs politically neutral and worked within the American political system to bring about change.
