This full-page photo of from LIFE Magazine in 1967 features Rabbi Shlomo Goren, chief rabbi of the Israeli army leading troops in prayer at the Western Wall in the Old City of Jerusalem. This is an original historic page from the June 1967 LIFE Magazine covering Israel’s Six-Day War. Moshe Dayan was appointed Israel’s Minister of Defense just before the outbreak of the war that would become known as the Six Day War. His photo was taken by LIFE Magazine photographer Paul Schutzer who lost his life covering that war. This is one of his last photographs.
