The decals are the new wave of UV DTF printing technology an alternative to waterslide or Vinly decals. These have really nice with bit raised rounded  appearance that can be installed right on top of clear coat and it instantly looks great without bothering to do clear coat on top of it since these decals have their own hard top coat too as you can see in the photos. This decal is installed on clear coated headstock. 

If you want to clear coat then you need to get waterslide. The raised look under clear coat will make it appear even better like some guitar manufacturers use this technique. It's impossible to make these with vinyl due to the tiny details and some builders don't like to work with waterslide decals. Plus these are bullet proof, they stick really well and are scratch resistant on their own.
