Description
I would say this is a mint condition example with new sac and seals. Inserting a moist Q tip into the old sac confirmed no ink was ever in this pen. The external surfaces are unrestored -- the striations on the steel cap are sharp. The gold filled trim has its original patina.
This Version of the Snorkel
Sheaffer's White Dot Clipper features a stainless steel cap with gold-filled trim and a palladium silver Triumph nib (80% palladium, 20% silver). Palladium silver is a precious metal that Sheaffer began using in 1933 for the masks on premium gold nibs because of its excellent ink-flow properties. Modern fountain pens with palladium silver nibs sell for about the same price as comparable models with 18k gold nibs.
Those who are attracted to gold nibs for gold's inherent value as a precious metal should be aware that palladium has recently sold for as much as $1000-1300 on the spot market.
Restoration included
disassembly and replacement of all seals and the sac.
I guarantee the pens I restore write smoothly and fill as designed.
