We are offering for sale this impressive Empire style Malachite desk set. This piece is 12" wide and 9" deep; the Malachite base has ball feet and is 2" tall. The gilt bronze winged lion is 5 1/2" tall. The winged lion is a prominent symbol of Venice, representing Saint Mark, who is the city's patron saint. The book that the lion's paw rests on says in Latin, "Peace be with you, Mark, my evangelist". The inkwell has a lovely gilt bronze frame and is 4 1/4" tall to the top of the finial. This desk set is of exceptional quality and the condition is excellent. It weighs over 11 pounds and will be double boxed for safe shipping.
