Duracell PowerSource 660 Portable Gasless Generator Good Working Condition
Gasless generators are a new way of having AC and USB recharging power in remote locations or during power outages. This Duracell unit is one of the bigger examples on the market. It has convenient and ergonomic carry handles on each end, though at around 55lbs it rather pushes the definition of portable. To get similar or greater capacity at a substantially lower weight, you'd have to look at lithium powered options at around 3 to 4 times the price.
This is a used unit which I have set the hands of time back to
like-new operating condition by replacing the aged internal battery with a fresh one, making this quite a bargain
compared to the average new in-store price averaging $599-749. Cosmetically speaking, I'd grade it at B+. Some scuffs and scratches from usage and moving, also dusty from storage.
I've tested it thoroughly and found all features work correctly, so on functionality this grades at A+. Battery charges when 110v charging cord is plugged in and also with a panel connected to solar input. 120V outlets and USB charging ports work correctly. I tested the battery capacity by connecting a 60W incandescent bulb to a 120V outlet, and a discharged lithium jump starter to a USB outlet. With this combined load of 70 continuous watts, I checked over 2 hours later and found the unit still working away and showing internal battery voltage of 12.3v.
It's important to recharge the unit ASAP after use and to recharge every 3 months or so between uses. Storing with the battery in a discharged state, particularly in cold weather, will shorten its life dramatically.
The heavy gauge piggy-back terminals on the back of the unit allow you to connect any 12V deep cycle battery to extend run-time far beyond what the modest internal battery can provide. This is something you'll probably want to implement for powering something like a camper van, or to run critical appliances during an extended grid power blackout.
In addition to the 120V fast charge port, there are also direct connect solar input terminals on the back of the unit with a built-in charge controller that can handle up to 100 watts/15A input. There's an easily accessible glass fuse inside the tool-less back panel cover in case the solar input gets overloaded. If you want to solar charge at a faster rate, you could connect solar panels with an external charge controller (important) directly to the piggy-back terminals.
The 4 AC outlets are rated at 1440W max, with momentary 2800W surge capacity. Note that they provide modified sine wave output, which is OK for most loads like tools and small appliances, but certain sensitive electronic items demand much more costly Pure Sine power sources.
This auction is for one used Duracell 660 with fresh internal battery, including AC charging cord, shipped in a plain/generic box. If you'd be happy with a working used unit with an aging battery or minor cosmetic issues (B functionality, C cosmetic grade) for a lower price, search my other listings.
This unit is HEAVY, weighing in at nearly 60lbs when boxed up which reflects in the shipping prices you see. FREE local pickup is available on this item. I can ship it by either UPS Ground or USPS Ground Advantage, whichever offers the best rate to your zip.
