* Highly fluorescent blue Diopside with minor graphite in (blue) Franklin Marble matrix from Amity, Warwick Twp. Orange Co. N.Y. This is a one locality specimen located during a cellar excavation in 1998.
* Specimen measures 4 x 3.5 x 3 cm. approx. * All fluorescent photos were taken with a powerful 8 watt scientific quality short wave ultra violet light in total darkness at varying distances. Depending on your equipment/situation fluorescent response may vary. * Historical note, Amity, Edenville, and Pine Island are small hamlets in Warwick, Orange Co. N.Y. with the distinction of having outcrops of Franklin marble with many wonderful collectable minerals! Edenite, Warwickite, & Clintonite were discovered here in the 1800's (type localities). Recently Fluoro-Edenite a beautiful fluorescent was found by a collector and identified by the NYS museum. Edenite, Norbergite and Diopside add to the list of great fluorescent minerals. The largest Spinels in the world are from here! Chondrodite and Forsterite are associated. Amphiboles, Pyroxenes and Scapolites are found in large crystals.
