IT HAS NEVER BEEN CHEAP, BUT ITS QUALITY AND LONGEVITY COMPARED TO OTHER BARKS MAKE IT WELL WORTH THE COST
Isn't all pine bark the same?
I wish I could say yes, but the answer is a resounding no. Pinus radiata grown in New Zealand produces a much thicker, harder and structurally sound material ideal for potting and repotting that breaks down much slower than pine bark grown in other localities. Orchiata bark is also allowed to age naturally which results in an even stronger nugget that decomposes much slower. Blending Orchiata with any other bark is not advisable due to the significantly different decomposition rates which will result in detrimental imbalances to your growing mix over time.
Orchiata is also the only bark on the market that we know of, which is coated with Dolomite, an all natural mineral that contains calcium and magnesium.
Advantages of using Dolomite:
#1 - Stabilize the substrate by increasing the pH to within a range of 5.5 to 6.5 which is ideal for plants
#2 - Prevents salt accumulation
#3 - Provide the minerals calcium and magnesium, which provides a much needed boost to plants recently repotted.
All Orchiata bark is also sustainably harvested.
We have been using Orchiata in our private collection for decades, the stuff is just pure magic!
Superior Grading for consistent particle size: What sets Daltons Orchiata apart is its outstanding grading. Long gone are the days where you would open a bag of pine bark and find nuggets ranging in size from a pea to a golf ball or larger. Engineered with precision, Orchiata offers an unmatched range of nugget grades to meet your growing needs
Outstanding Aeration: Pine bark nuggets allow ample air flow into the media which in turn allows for excellent drainage, and a strong root development
Exceptional Water Management: Orchiata excels in water management, maintaining optimal moisture levels while preventing waterlogged conditions. This advanced capability creates a consistent and supportive environment for your orchids, ensuring robust and healthy growth.
Sustainably Harvested & Renewable: Daltons Orchiata is committed to sustainability only harvesting from carefully managed forests in New Zealand. Beyond enhancing your orchid cultivation, this substrate aligns with eco-friendly practices, contributing to a greener world.
Aged to create a super strong nugget: Minus radiata is already one of the strongest pine barks out there, and Daltons Orchiata takes it a step further by dry aging their nuggets to make them even stronger. This bark retains its structural integrity much longer than any other bark on the market.
Less Repotting: A stronger bark nugget means you get to spend less time repotting orchids where the bark has started to degrade, and your plants get to spend more time growing a super healthy root system
Versatility Redefined: Daltons Orchiata has a pine bark nugget that will work for your every growing need. Whether you are growing epiphytes or terrestrials, in mixes that need to dry fast or stay damp for longer, in pure pine bark or just with other additives, Orchiata is perfect for all your growing needs. Regardless your skill level, Orchiata meets the dynamic needs of all orchid enthusiasts.
