Custom 'Quick' Focus Ring / Grip For Hasselblad CF 40mm 50mm 60mm 80mm Lens The plastic focus rings for the Hasselblad CF 40mm, CF 50mm, CF 60mm and CF 80mm lenses often break (as did mine) and also on some CF lenses, the focus ring movement is notoriously stiff and viscous (as is my 40mm FLE). So I custom created a replacement 3D printed focus ring that has carefully designed in protrusions to give more leverage to the thumb and forefinger when turning it, but is more compact and sympathetic in its design than the Hasselblad Quick Focus Handle. Thus solving two problems within a single new ring. The style and knurling on the grip/protrusions is designed to mimic the style and design of the original Hasselblad grip and controls, such as the aperture control grip, already on the lens. The additional grip/protrusions also have an angled rear so the distance markings on the lens are still generally visible (images 9 and 10). Although intended for left hand focus use, it does have some ambidextrous abilities. It is also designed to generally allow for a cable release to be used, but note that if you use it on a 60mm or 80mm CF lens, the thumb protrusion may just interfere with a fitted cable release if the focus ring is turned all the way to its very end/closest focus setting, as does the Hasselblad Quick Focusing Handle 1 CF. Note: The lens and camera in the images are not included in this listing and are there to illustrate purpose.
The ring is made of eSun Black PLA+ 3D printing filament which is strong, robust and makes nice quality prints. It is printed using the finest printer settings, however they may have small marks here and there from the 3D printing process as the printer layers the molten plastic filament on to the printers bed surface and from the cleaning up of the final print, but these will not effect the functionality. The PLA+ material can also be lightly sanded and sprayed to change the finish if you so wish. The physical size and grip knurling pattern structure are designed to imitate the original CF style, however note that 3D printing does not have the same level of close detail as can be obtained from a moulded part because of the layering of the filament, but it does enable short run custom parts without the set up and manufacturing costs. | |||
