Please see my pictures of owners manual above. It says lubrication is needed when you first put this shaft into the table saw for first time use.  Please use a quality grease.  Then after every 80-100 hours of use re-grease this for proper function.  If the table saw has not been used for long periods of time the flex cable should be removed and re-greased. This is direct from the craftsman owner manual.
