Coupe Absinthe Glasses, Set of Two
Glasses are made to the exact measurements as an original Coupe glass, including their reservoir. The reservoir is the bottom area of the glass used to measure the amount of absinthe to be added. Besides aiding a bartender by helping them to know the exact amount of absinthe to pour, the reservoir also allows the customer to know it is an honest pour. The size of the reservoir generally correlates with the size of the glass being used, as water to absinthe ratios vary by the drinker (typically 3 to 5 parts water, to 1-part absinthe).

Meaning, it was added to absinthe by pouring (or dripping) cold water onto the sugar, allowing it to dissolve before falling into the high alcohol content absinthe. And because the amount of sugar added was determined by the drinker, like adding sugar to a coffee. Some prefer more or less than others. Absinthe is always made to one's liking.
