Don’t Be Fooled: It is NOT possible to use the same passive components for 433MHz and 868/915MHz operation using the Texas Instruments CC1101 transceiver chip (read the Texas Instruments CC1101 documentation!). The passive components in the transceiver module we integrate are correctly tuned for 868/915MHz operation. PLEASE DO NOT USE OUR TRANSCEIVER FOR OTHER WAVEBANDS; YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED WITH THE RANGE PERFORMANCE.
FCC/EC Certified: We use an FCC/EC certified 868/915MHz transceiver module (the certification is on the module - we paid for the FCC/EC certification!); other CC1101-based transceivers modules are NOT FCC/EC certified. If you transmit with them, you are possibly in violation of the law.
Note: The transceiver chip uses a 26MHz crystal. Please use this crystal frequency when determining the initialization data for the CC1101, which is usually done with Texas Instruments' RF Studio.
RFI Protected: Our transceiver module has a metal RF Interference (RFI) cover, making our transceiver module somewhat larger than others: 0.8” x 1.13” (20.5mm x 28.7mm). Other transceiver modules are bare components that are subject to producing or receiving RF Interference.
Standard 8-Pin Connector: Our transceiver uses the “standard” 8-pinouts that many other CC1101 transceivers use, so you are “plug compatible” with other offerings. Please verify the pinout matches your application. We also sell on eBay an 10-Pin connector (eBay item # 146353854626).
Versatile Antenna Connector: No bulky antenna connector! The very small, industry-standard U.FL RF connector (originally developed by Hirose) provides many antenna connection options. The U.FL RF connector is used by millions of consumer RF devices.
High Quality Antenna: No bulky antenna! We provide a tiny, high-quality U.FL whip antenna that is 82mm long for North American customers and 86mm for EU customers. This length is the correct 1/4 wavelength for 915MHz (NA) or 868-869MHz (EU). There is no magic in a passive antenna, and the simple whip provides a very light-weight, reasonably-efficient transmitter or receiver. You can’t make or buy a much better general-purpose small antenna than a whip, and you can easily make or buy a much poorer one.
A Genuine Texas Instruments CC1101 Transceiver Chip: It has the following features:
- Working voltage: 1.8-3.6V. Please do NOT use +5V power or +5V logic! If you do, you will destroy the CC1101!
- Operating frequency: the 868 and 915MHz ISM (Instrumentation, Scientific, and Industrial) bands.
- Instantaneous maximum working current: <30mA.
- Maximum transmit power: +10dBm.
- Supports 2-FSK, 4-FSK, GFSK, MSK, and OOK modulation.
- Receiver sensitivity of -110dBm at 1200 baud.

We Use and Test What We Make: Our application for this transceiver module is battery-power, radio-control of model railroad locomotives (bprc or Dead-Rail) where reliability and range performance matter.
