CASED 1880s-1890 AMERICAN LINEMAN'S POCKET TELEGRAPH LINE TEST SIGNAL KEY 


On a base of PHENOLIC form of GUTTA-PERCHA, for your consideration is a very fine cased TELEGRAPH LINEMAN'S TELEGRAPH LINE TESTING SIGNAL KEY. 


Unmarked as to maker, but attributed the J.H. BUNNELL & CO. firm, which made this exact design that often is signed J. H. BUNNELL & CO.        .   .  

Galvanized metal case with original leather strapping and early use of corrugated cardboard as a interior liner. 

Wear is consistent with age and use.  Please see all photos as they are part of the description. Tiny hairline stress crack that is almost not there on one corner that does not go through the entire piece of phenolic.  It is so tiny that the camera could not show it in the photo we show of it.
