DESCRIPTION:
Pair With: Pork, Chicken, or Jackfruit Non GMO Project Verified Certified Gluten Free Paleo Preservative Free For every lonely tortilla out there, somewhere, there’s a crockpot, filled with tender-yet-simultaneously-and-magically-crispy protein, just waiting for the day to complete one another. Wow, didn’t mean to get emotional on you—it’s just that this somehow feels like the greatest love story we’ve heard in a long time! That, or maybe all this talk of carnitas is just making us a little hungry…. Inspired by family memories of our Grandma Campos making a carnitas-style dish, where she cooked pork in the oven then crisped it in a pan with seasonings from her cupboard, we’re delighted to bring you this delicious heritage-inspired seasoning without the measure-it-out guesswork. With flavor so bold, you’d never guess that the ingredients are as simple as dates, garlic, onion, citrus, and cumin. In fact, our Carnitas Slow Cooker Spice is an all-in-one seasoning, so there’s no need to add much more than a little oil, and the veggie or protein of choice—pork, chicken, jackfruit, or otherwise. Easy as that!SUGGESTED USE:
1. In a slow cooker, add 2.5 lbs of filling of choice and 1/2 cup of water. Cook on low setting for 6-7 hours (for pork shoulder) or until tender (for other fillings).
2. Once filling is cooked, reserve 1/2 cup of cooking liquid, and drain the rest.
3. Add carnitas seasoning packet to the filling with 1/2 cup of cooking liquid. Mix well.
(Optional) For crispy carnitas, spread seasoned filling over a sheet tray, and broil in the oven for 2-3 minutes or until crispy.
4. Enjoy in tacos (makes 24), with rice, or chef's choice.
