INSIDE
CALIPER

Hand Calipers
are measuring tools
known as
comparators
used to transfer dimensions
from one location to another.

The caliper’s tips are adjusted
to fit between two points of a
precisely measured distance.
While maintaining that span,
the caliper is then matched to
a separate measuring index
such as a ruler or micrometer.

The standard term :
“INSIDE CALIPER”
is a bit of a misnomer, because
these calipers easily take both
Internal + External
measurements of
inside & outside
dimensions.

Calipers measure aperture
diameter and thickness of
project materials, to ascertain
accurate dimensions of square
or round pipe, tube or rod stock.

They can be used to determine
specific precision measurements
of fittings and fasteners.

Measurements can be taken from
model work samples that serve
as three-dimensional templates.

Matching Forms with
Exact Standardized Details
calipers
are a vital tool when crafting
sets with identical repeating
dimensions to make sure
every duplicate piece
is consistently sized.
Eliminate the Guesswork

Calipers are of great advantage
in pottery, to create uniform sets
of ceramic bowls, plates or mugs.
Cups & saucers can be matched
by checking the base of a cup
to ensure it fits snugly into
the indent at the center
of each paired saucer.

Straight Flat Legs
Good stiff pivot provides a firm
friction joint so tension won’t
change with leg movement:
they hold measurements
without slippage.
