Up for sale here is this recap kit for the Bose 901 Series V (5) and series VI (6) equalizer. Please understand that this listing is just for the recap kit, not the actual equalizer. At this point the equalizer is probably 30+ years old, and the old capacitors are weak and failing. We will make them new again!
This kit includes replacement capacitors to replace all of the old electrolytic capacitors. It also includes instructions to explain how to install everything. This does not include any transistors or other capacitors or resistors. New caps are Nichicon PW electrolytic capacitors and Wima film caps--you will get the exact parts shown in the picture. These are all high-quality brand new genuine parts, the same parts I use when I work on vintage gear.
The new caps are the same capacitance as the old ones, but they are at a higher voltage, so they will work better and last longer. This is an easy rebuild--just desolder and remove the old caps and install and solder in the new ones. The 1 uf film caps replace the radial 1 uf caps at C5/C6/C15/C16.
I will include surprisingly well-written instructions, but this is at least mildly complicated, and you should know what you're doing and have a decent soldering iron. This kit will not fix everything that could be wrong with your equipment, but it will certainly help. Please see my pictures for details.
