BEATLES SCRAPBOOKS WITH TICKET
STUBS 1964 – 1968, Amazing
chronological history of the Beatles told in newspaper and magazine clippings
from February 1964. The first volume is
1964, the second volume is 1965, and the third volume is 1966 with footnotes
for 1967 ( From the book: "Only two articles this year I stopped saving articles on r’r and the
Beatles except for a few good magazine articles. Year of Psychedelic Music, The Airplane,
Fillmore, The Dead, Avalon, San Francisco Sound), and page noting that the
Beatles were still making music in 1968.
Extremely strong content particularly regarding the Beatlemania around
the US tours and San Francisco concerts in particular. These books are full. Over time, the owner’s taste drifts towards
Bob Dylan with articles about him becoming interspersed. The articles are all in chronological order.
Special items included in the scrapbooks include:
- National Record News Special Beatles Issue from Feb. 1964, 4 page newspaper laid in.
- Original flyer for a Closed Circuit concert presentation of the first US concert in Washington, DC on March 14 and 15, 1964 at the Stanford Theater in Palo Alto. The flyer is glued in on the corners but could potentially be removed. Also included is an original theater stub for this show which also included The Beach Boys and Lesley Gore. The show was videotaped and beamed to theaters over phone lines. It was the first pay-per-view concert. A similar flyer for a different theater sold for $1,100.
- Original newspaper ads for movies, albums, Cow Palace concert, etc.
- Original ticket stub for the August 19, 1964 Beatles concert at the Cow Palace and original written receipt for a Traveler’s Express Money Order payable to the Cow Palace for $13.50 to the owner of the scrapbooks.
- Two
original ticket stubs for the Beatles Cow Palace concert on August 31, 1965
along with the song list written out.

Candlestick Park (July 26, 1966), Beach Boys, Chuck Berry, Marvine Gaye,
Coasters, etc. at Million Dollar Party, Candlestick Park (April 11, 1964), KFRC
Beach Boys Summer Spectacular with Jefferson Airplane, Sir Douglas, Lovin’
Spoonful, Candlestick Park (June 24, 1966), KYA Battle of the Sounds with
Ronettes, Supremes, Shangrilas, Temptations, Righteous Brothers, Sonny and
Cher, Candlestick Park (January 30, 1965), Ramsey Lewis at San Jose Civic
Auditorium.
- Original form letter from Mersey Beat in response for a request for a Mersey penpal. Also a flyer from Mersey Beat promoting a free illustrated book with a paid subscription.
- Original
flyers for The Animals at the Circle Star Theater (September 27, 1965), and
Peter Paul and Mary at U.C. Harmon Gym (February 28, 196?).
