Kiln aromatic cedar (eastern red cedar) slabs. Select from various thicknesses, widths, and lengths. Kiln dried to 10% moisture so your project won't warp or crack. All slabs have a live edge. Live edges are left with bark, but the bark can be removed and the live edges can be sanded for an additional fee. Slabs can also be ripped down the middle and prepped for epoxy pour projects. Whatever you have in mind for a slab, we can do. Please message us with specific requests.
Every piece is unique and will have varying grain, knots, live edge curvature, etc. If you have any specifications for your project, please send a message indicating as such. Examples could be that you do not want any knots in your slab, or that you want the live edge to be fairly straight, etc.
The deep red/purple color can be achieved in this wood once it is well sanded and finished with epoxy or multiple coats of shellac. When wood dries, it will turn more grey/brown. This is true for any wood species. It’s important to sand the wood thoroughly starting with 60 grit and progressing up to 200 grit. After sanding, a finish should be applied within a day to ensure the freshly exposed grain is sealed, thereby locking in the vibrant color. Sanding and finishing services are available.
