This is a beautiful antique Victorian brass fireplace bucket, also known as a kettle or ash scuttle. It was likely made in the late 1800s and is marked CREBY BROS 1870, based on the stamp on the base (see close-up photo).
Features:
Material: Solid heavy brass body with a forged iron or steel swing handle
Construction: Riveted handle mounts with copper rivets visible inside — a classic sign of quality 19th-century craftsmanship
Shape: Tapered cauldron style with wide rolled rim and narrower base, designed for easy scooping or pouring of coals or ashes
