I love pieces like this I really do. They’re like orphans, waiting to be repurposed reimagined or just enjoyed as is and displayed or hung up on the wall.
I like replacing medicine cabinet doors with things like this. Most of us can create a reasonable facsimile of a box but carving is not a skill we ever attained. That’s where pieces like this wonderful carved panel come in. You have a ready-made lid or door and you didn’t have to learn how to carve.
This fantastic panel is probably Victorian, definitely completely hand done, as for what the wood is I’m not really sure to be honest with you.
If any of my carpenter clients out there happens to recognize the wood, let me know, I will put it in the description.
I find less than expected wear for an antique piece that clearly was a piece of furniture. It is well preserved. The joints are perfect. This wonderful panel is ready for its next life.
Thank you for looking!
Please note that picture #4 does have two rulers for scale, but they’re not really very clear so I have just added a couple of more pictures. Size is APPROXIMATELY 10 1/2 x 7 3/4 and it sure looks like an inside custom job! 😎. Awesome panel~ for your time.
