Description: Estate Fresh! An unmarked antique Soprano Ukulele with exotic flame koa or mahogany and inlaid rope binding details, 20-3/4”L, American, probably Boston or Chicago (Harmony?), c.1920.
A surprisingly clean, well-preserved, and higher-grade example. All components appear original but well beyond the scope of my expertise.
Neck is straight, doweled and quite stable; tuners have correct resistance.
Comes complete with new set of Aquila Nylgut strings. I would recommend bringing to a luthier for restring and/or neck reset.
The protective felt cover is in pretty rough shape but appears original. Button reads HOWE / BOSTON. The Elias Howe Co. (1890s-1920s) was a distributor of Howe-Orme string instruments. See Internet for further information.
Expect a bright and cheerful traditional sound from this little 9oz peanut! The photos are probably the best description.
Condition: Instrument has honest wear consistent with age, use and handling, as shown; otherwise in Good+ to Very Good estate-found condition with attractive details and patina.
Felt Cover is in Fair condition. There is moderate wear including tears/holes at the tuner locations and one button closure is missing.
Aquila Nylgut Strings are new and unopened.
See photos for complete details and close-ups. Please consider them as part of the description. Measures approximately 20-3/4”L x 6”W x 2-1/8”D overall. Weighs only 9oz!
Payment & Shipping: Offered without reserve. Ships professionally packed and fully insured to the highest bidder, anywhere in the lower 48.
