Offered here is an antique magnetic ship’s compass housed in its original gimbaled brass mount and solid wood box. This piece is marked with a brass nameplate that reads “S.S. ATLANTIC 1905”.
The compass is mounted in a traditional gimbal suspension for stability at sea. It has a beautifully aged brass frame and a clean, easy-to-read dial featuring cardinal points and degree markings. The needle responds to magnetic north, confirming that the compass is still functional. A silhouette of a classic sailing ship is printed on the compass card.
Please note: there is a visible internal hairline crack in the inner wall near the top edge of the compass dome (see close-up photo). This does not appear to affect function

Condition:
Very good vintage condition overall. Patina and age-appropriate wear present on the brass. One internal crack on the inside top of the dome (see photos). Wood box has minor wear. A rare and collectible nautical artifact.
