Antique Edwin Anson & Co. Model Ansonia Air Rifle belonging to Dr. Robert D. Beeman (Of Beeman Airguns) .177 Cal. Break Barrel Cocking, octagonal barrel, side of receiver, both sides marked, "THE ANSONIA", The barrel release and barrel block is marked, "ANSONIA BOLT ACTION". Bore is shiny with a nine-groove, right hand rifling. Tested and shoots extremely well and clean. Stock appears to be curly maple and shows two tight cracks on each side of the tang. Stock wiggles left to right a little. Comes with a steel buttplate. 43.75" OAL, 7.5 lbs., Mfg. 1905-1910. 
Anson E. & Company was a gunsmithing business and were located in in Birmingham, England and were in business circa 1890-1945. 
PROVENANCE: The trigger guard has a brass tag along with a cable and signet lock.  The Tag is stamped, "R.D. BEEMAN PRIVATE COLLECTION 1253 ".  The signet lock has his initials on it, "RDB". A rare antique piece belonging to a top leader in the Industry.
