Up for sale is an amazing example of an woman's antique Native American Hair Pipe Necklace. Made of bone (buffalo?), leather, and glass beads. The full length is 26 inches and the necklace weighs 1 pound and 2 ounces. Each bone piece is about 4 inches. Strung with heavy thread and the back neck piece appears to be sinew. I am guessing from plains region?
This is a recent find from an estate and the family did travel and explored archeology around the world during this time period.
My knowledge of this piece is very limited. I only know what I have been able to find online. I would refer you to the Pearsall Collection at Florida Museum, North American Ethnographic in Gainsville for a similar example.
The condition is remarkably good considering the age- always stored in a non-smoking home. Being sold in as found condition. I have described this necklace to be of my ability. Bidders should make their own assessment using the photos and the description.
The shipping cost includes full value insurance coverage.
