This antique bronze door knocker has a Swan head and neck as the main decorative part of the pivoting arm mechanism, after the swan head decoration, the actual knocker part, or hammer is a really nicely molded, nicely age worn cornucopia style piece, sorry, I am not exactly sure what the technical terms are for a door knocker! Where it screws thru the door the mounting rosette or backplate, has a wonderful reddish brown patina, the underside of which seems to have a molded number on it, it is hard to see, let alone read, but my best guess is that it is the number 29.
Measurements…it hangs flat on a door front 5.5 inches, and stands out from the door 2.5 inches. The mounting rosette or backplate is approx. 2.25 inches in diameter. There is no strike plate for the hammer to hit. We believe it dates back to around 1900, and that this door knocker is an original antique . The swan theme adds a touch of sophistication, making it a unique and stylish addition to any door. Crafted from high-quality bronze, this door knocker is both durable and visually appealing, perfect for adding a touch of antique flair to any home.
