This hilarious survivor from the late 1800's-very early 1900's is heavily constructed of wood with original padded leatherette head and brass mount that appears to accet a shotgun shell base/primer. Measuring 26 1/4" x 6 1/4" wide x 2 5/8" thick, when the paddle strikes someone's behind, a firing pin inside the brass mechanism is depressed resulting in a loud BANG! It retains original reddish varnish and silver painted surface with lots of use wear and the fabric is stable and intact with no tears. You will note an old split in the wood that has very little movement, so the paddle would likely still work. It has NOT been tested. I see no maker's name.
