A 3 1/2" tall irregular hexagon-shaped deep COBALT BLUE colored antique POISON bottle.  This bottle is a label only bottle, it is NOT embossed.  This bottle has a paper label on it "POISON ... BOWMAN & CO. PHARMACISTS ... OAKLAND".  This is an ORIGINAL ANTIQUE hand Blown Into Mold bottle (BIM) with a tooled top, dating back to very early 1900.

  • Bottle embossed on base: "1 / C. L. G. Co. / PATENT APPLIED FOR".   C. L. G. Co. = the Carr Lowry Glass Co. of Baltimore, Maryland, who specialized in hand blowing colored drug store bottles.   The number "1" stands for 1 ounce.

  • Condition:   This bottle is is in nice clean condition. It has NO cracks, chips, dings, damage, etc.  The label is worn and tattered but it is just about fully legible.  PLEASE see pic's for overall idea of bottle and label's appearance/condition.

  • Age:  An ORIGINAL ANTIQUE hand-blown bottle (Blown-In-Mold = BIM) with a tooled-top, ca. early 1900's.

  • Shipping:  FREE domestic shipping.   We DO ship Internationally but we do NOT insure International orders unless buyer specifically requests this and we are able to provide an insurance estimate.  If an international shipping charge is much more than the actual shipping cost, we will refund the excess so what YOU pay for shipping/insurance is very close to, if not exactly, the ACTUAL shipping costs! This is important for foreign buyers to know as most of our foreign shipping charges are estimates.  We do not falsify information on the Customs Form, such as a price other than what the actual purchase price is, so please do not request us to do so. We ship several times a week and your prompt payment will hasten the turn-around time.

A great looking old POISON bottle, note that label has the word POISON and a picture of a SKULL and cross-bones on it.  Some of these bottles are also embossed "BOWMAN'S DRUG STORES" and have "POISON" - "POISON" embossed on each of the sides, they are cataloged as KI-1 bottle.  This is maybe an older or newer example, it is not embossed "POISON" and is cataloged as a KI-2.   What is great about antique poison bottles is the unique shapes and forms and/or the unusual colors they come in.  They often have fancy embossed pictures of the skull and crossbones motif and extraordinary embossed patterns (like this bottle is an unusual shape and it is fully embossed with horizontal  'warning' lines).   These were all things to let a user know, by sight and feel, that this bottle contained something that was not to be consumed.  About 20 years ago we were contacted by a bottle collector near Monterey Bay, in California, who had several antique Owl Drug bottles with labels on them.  I bought them all and when I received the bottles, this bottle was mixed in among them, the only poison bottle, CHECK - IT - OUT!
