Steiner Violin Absom Prope 1730

This violin was restored by renowned violin maker RJ Storm. He wrote the following after restoring the violin:

A nicely restored and very well played early to mid 19th century Violin of probable Austrian provenance. Although bereft of a typical neck graft and not believed to be a composite the modern length of the neck is from a heel extension block, thus leading to its probable date of origin and its classification as a somewhat historic yet semi-transitional instrument. Typical, yet remarkable Austrian high arch table yet possessing a very rich and projecting tone of acceptable orchestral volume, not often seen with this style of construction. It can moreover be added that that there is clarity not only in the bass and mid range, but the high end register has a very angelic sweetness of character so often lacking in other examples of this arching style. Common to a working instrument, the historic trauma of past repairs, monies spent, compounded with signature wear patterns, summarily bear eloquent testimony that this instrument has been a work horse for good reason over the last nearly 200 years. Recent adjustments and examination assures that all cracks and seams are closed, the neck intersect angle is robust and, new pegs, a planed fingerboard to spec, top nut, end pin bushing, and a finely selected and we'll dressed Bridge make this instrument ready for service.

Violin comes with brand new carrying case. Please note that the bridge will be removed and strings loosened prior to shipping the violin.
