Antique 1899, Willcox and Gibbs Sewing Machine with Case

Antique 1899, Willcox and Gibbs Sewing Machine with Case.

This is one of the first portable electric sewing machines produced in the United States, made by the Willcox and Gibbs Sewing Machine Company New York N.Y. Willcox and Gibbs started manufacturing sewing machines in the late 1850s. This design machine was produced as a Hand Crack Machine, Treadle Foot Pump Machine, and an Electric Machine. This is a single thread machine that produces a chain stitch.

I have tested the machine and it sews nicely. The case is in very good condition and it closes perfectly.

This machine was manufactured in approximately 1899.
